Christmas Mantle inspired by Aly

Aly over at analyze this shared her super creative and beautiful Christmas mantle!  I have been searching high and low for the perfect idea for our mantle this Christmas season…  When I saw Aly’s post this morning….I knew that was the mantle that I wanted!  I made the trip to Target and got the supplies.  Then I came straight home and assembled it!  I could not be more pleased with the way it turned out!!!!
Aly did a step by step on her blog but I thought that I would do mine as well!
What you need:
1-10 ft piece of pre lit garland (target $10)
4- cylindrical vases (target $3)
2- larger vases (I have these left over from my rehearsal dinner but they are from Hobby Lobby approx. $10)
2- branches of berries and other small decorating things 🙂
1- bag of cinnamon scented pine cones
3- large bags of whole coffee bean (Food Lion $10 a bag ***I know that you could probably find them cheaper some where)
6- small candles
The vases, coffee, and candles and my helper
Fill the vases with the coffee beans and place candle on top

Place evenly spaced on your mantle

place the garland around the vases

place the pine cones and berries

and thats it!!!!

with the lights turned off

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Aly!  You are amazing!  This was so easy and fairly cheap!

Birthday Recap

So I turned 24 today.  I actually feel a little older but that maybe because I ran 10 miles yesterday and rolled my ankle 3 times. 😦  It is feeling mostly better today and the swelling has gone down.

Andre and I celebrated my birthday today.  He got me a KINDLE and I am in love.  I have already downloaded “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and started reading!

He also got us tickets to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra next Saturday!  We will be going to cut down out Christmas tree in the mountains and then coming back to see the show!   I can not wait for next Saturday!

He also got me an Ice Cream cake!  Mint Chocolate chip….my favorite!!!!

We are going to finish up my birthday by going out to dinner!

I celebrated with my family on Thanksgiving.  They got me new faucets for our master bathroom and kitchen.  We have been needing them since we moved in.  My brother and dad installed them for us!

We just love them with all of their shininess!

They also got me a set of all purpose bowls in our china pattern.

I have wanted these bowls since our wedding!  I am so happy to get them….I just love the detail!

My mom also made and brought a cake to Thanksgiving!  Lemon with Cream Cheese Icing…my favorite!

Tucker Update and Side Chignon-ish

Well Tucker’s surgery went down with out a problem!  YAY!  Now we just wait for the pathology report…that should be to us right after  Thanksgiving.  He is probably going to sleep for the rest of the day.  He needs the rest!  I am so proud of how well he acted this morning.  He is such a trooper!
Now on to some fun stuff!  I tried out the side chignon that I mentioned a few weeks ago “here“.  It is not exactly the same but I think that it turned out ok and the husband loved it so I guess it is a keeper!

I have never shown you all my Frye boots that I got this year so here they are… I LOVE them.  I would wear them everyday if that was acceptable 🙂

Have a great Tuesday girls!  Thanks so much for all the comments and thought these last few days!  I just love all of you!

Miscellany Monday…

It’s Monday and one of my favorite blog posts of the week because I get to be so totally RANDOM!!!!
Go ahead and link up my friends!!!
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
I am totally getting into the holiday spirit because I am participating in Aly & Molly’s 12 Days of Christmas Blog Challenge!  Go ahead and link up…all the cool kids are doing it!

Thanksgiving is this week and I have already done all of my shopping!  It feels AMAZING to already have all of that donzo!  I can not wait to start cooking on Wednesday!
I have this entire week and next Monday off from work!  I am ecstatic!   I am going to do a little shopping, some running, some cooking, take the doggies on some much needed walks, and just be a total bum!  Sounds like a great week to me….oh and my B-day is on Sunday so that makes it even BETTER!
The Wilson Tigers (my husband’s team) are starting their season tonight.  They are in a tournament and hopefully will pull of a win tonight!  Have I told you how much I LOVE basketball!  I can not wait to cheer them on tonight!!!!  GO TIGERS!!!!
Tucker is having minor surgery tomorrow to have a place removed off of his leg.  I am hoping that it goes well and the sedatives do not screw with his epilepsy.  I will update everyone after it is completed tomorrow.  Poor little puppy has had so many things done to him in his life 😦 but he is a happy puppy so that is all that matters.
I hope everyone enjoyed my randomness!!!  Have a great Monday!!!!

Weekend Recap

We had a great weekend!  Andre has been a little under the weather so we have been trying to relax so I can get him better before the basketball games start next week.  I can not believe that they play their first real game of the season on Monday!

Saturday we went to see HARRY POTTER!!!   I really enjoyed it and thought that it was a really good movie.  I agree with the critics that if you have not seen the other movies or read the books you would not get much out of it.  I really think if you have not read the books then you would not get as much out of it.  Andre has not read the books and re-watched the movies so he was a little rusty with his Harry Potter knowledge….maybe I just know too much about it 🙂

Yesterday evening we finished up watching the Godfather.  That was Andre’s movie pick for November. Many of you probably know about us doing this but if you don’t…as part of my 101 in 1001 I decided that I would watch a movie of Andre’s choice once a month.  He chose Godfather this month.  We have watch Goodfellas, Casablanca, and now the Godfather.  I would say out of those three the Godfather is my favorite so far.

Today has been a laid back kind of day.  We got up late and I went running around noon.  I ran 9 miles today and tried out the Gatorade G series.  There are 3 different products in this series. A gel type drink to take before you run, then a drink to drink while you run, and then a recovery drink.  The gel and drink that I drank while I was running was good, but I thought that the recovery drink was too sweet.  I am not a big fan of really sweet things.  I felt really good on my run…not sure if it was the gatorade products or just a good running day.  I am going to use them again next weekend when I run 10 miles!

I drank all of the lemon lime flavored drinks.

Now I am making chex mix that we call Trash in my family.  We always make it around the holidays and I have been craving it!  I can not wait for it to be done so I can chow down 🙂  I will put the recipe up later today on my cooking blog!  I posted a few new recipes earlier today as well go “here” to check them out!

This evening I am cooking Chicken Tetrazzini (go “here” to check out that recipe) and we are going to watch Amazing Race….I would LOVE to be on that show with Andre!!!

I hope that everyone’s weekends were AWESOME!!!!  The Christmas blog challenge starts tomorrow!!!!!

You should join in!!!
