Happy Birthday Mama!

For all the times you gently picked me up
when I fell down
For all the times you tied my shoes
and tucked me into bed
or needed something
but put me first instead.

For everything we shared,

the dreams, the laughter,
and the tears,
I love you with a “Special Love”
That deepens every year.

Happy Birthday
We LOVE you!

Make sure you check back soon (I am starting on Jan. 1, 2011) and often because there will be a new picture for everyday!
Feel free to join in….leave me a comment so I can make sure to follow along with your journey!
First picture coming soon…Jan. 1, 2011

Miscellany Monday…

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
1. Let in Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow
We got snow again this year.  Apparently it is really rare that we have snowfall in Florence (coastal SC) but now we have had it two years in a row!  We only got about 2-3 inches but that was plenty to get all of the children in the neighborhood out and playing in it.  Tillman and Tucker really enjoyed themselves too.  Tillman got an agility course this year from santa and I set it up in the back yard.  He was really jumping and diving through it while it was snowing!
if you look really hard you can see the weave poles, the jump, and the hoop that makes up part of Tillman’s agiliy set

Tillman showing off his jumping skills….this picture cracks me up because he was barking as this was taken 🙂

2. Nikon D3100
I still can not believe that I got that camera that I wanted.  I can not wait to REALLY learn how to use it (take it off of auto).  I took some pictures last night while I was cooking dinner and I think that I impressed myself a little….I think that I have found a new hobby!

3. Nika is coming to visit!
Nika, one of my best friends and a Bridesmaid, is coming to visit today.  We have so many fun things planned…we are eating lunch at the local tea house, going to Andre’s basketball game, cooking delicious food, and I know playing with our Nikons!!!!  I can not wait to see her!!!
4. Already over
I can not believe that Christmas is already over.  I wish that it lasted for like a week!  I am glad that I have this entire next week off to play with all of my new goodies and just spend some quality time with my husband!
5. Dog Bowls
Santa brought Tillman and Tucker some really cool bowls this year.  They are made to slow their eating down.   In regular bowls they could probably eat their food in less than a minute.  Now it take them a few minutes which makes me happy because it lessens their risk of getting bloat.
It has taken a few feedings for them to get use to them, but I think that they like the challenge and the idea of working a little for their food.  I know it gives me peace of mind!
I hope that everyone has a wonderful Monday!  Go link up with Carissa!!!!

Our First Married Christmas!

Our first married Christmas was amazing!  We went to my parents house on Christmas eve.  We went to Christmas Eve Service and then to the movies.  We saw True Grit….it is one of my dad’s favorite movies and we knew that he would love to see it.  After the movie we headed back home and just hung out until it was time for bed.

Christmas day my brother and I did not break the tradition of waking up ridiculously early.  We ran down stairs like we were 3 and 5 years old and looked all of our goodies that Santa brought for us. We then went back to sleep until a decent hour.  After breakfast we all gathered around the Christmas tree to open presents.  All I can say is….that all five of us must have been really good this year 😉

After lunch Andre and I came back to Florence and we did our Christmas at our house.  We opened presents and stockings.  Our pups also got to open their gifts 🙂  A little later we went over to Andre’s parents house to eat dinner.

Now for the picture recap….all taken with my new DSLR (Nikon D3100)  I am still learning but I LOVE it so far!!!!

I also made Chocolate bark for Christmas….it all was so good!!!!

And, then it guess what….it started snowing!!!!!  It is still snowing now but very lightly.

Tucker loves that snow!!!!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  I know our first married Christmas will be one that I will never forget.  I honestly can say that this Christmas has been my best ever!

Merry Christmas!

I hope that everyone has an amazing Christmas and Santa is good to all!  We will be heading to my parents house tomorrow to celebrate.  I can not wait to see what everyone gets!
I hope that I have been good this year 😉

I’m LOVING that today is my last day of work for the year…
I’m LOVING that Christmas is this weekend.  I am so excited to go see my people this weekend and for everyone to open their presents.  I am horrible at keeping things from Andre and have wanted to tell him what I have gotten him SO bad…..but I have kept it a secret so far 🙂
I’m LOVING that I am going to make 5 different types of chocolate bark tomorrow!!!!

bittersweet chocolate, coconut, macadamia nuts, dried mangos, and crystallized ginger
white chocolate, pistachios, dried cranberries, and candied orange
semisweet chocolate, smoked almonds, dried figs, and sea salt

Miscellany Monday…

It is Christmas week!!!!!  Can you believe it!  Only 4 more days……..
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

This is going to be our first Christmas together as a married couple.  We have started a few of our own traditions that we hope to build upon each year.  This is truly an exciting time of year.  This year we are going to my parents (about 2.5 hours away) house for Christmas eve and Christmas morning…then we are head back to Florence after Christmas lunch to do Christmas at our house…then Christmas dinner with Andre’s parents.  I know that we are going to be SUPER tired after all of that but hopefully it will filled with joy!

I just LOVE red nail polish in the winter.  I have super short nail (as you can see) but I still like to polish them up and bright red is my favorite!!!!

I only have 3 more day of work this year…to say that I am overjoyed is an understatement.  I love my job (dont get me wrong) but who doesn’t love to spend time with your loved ones during the holidays and work just seems to get in the way with that 🙂
I can not wait to try out two new dishes this week:
Pasta e Fagioli al Forno with Lemon Pepper Salad
and
Spicy Chicken with Fiery Angel Hair Pasta and Roasted Veggie
I am also making 5 types of chocolate bark this week to take to my parents house on Christmas eve…I just have not decided what kind of container to put it in….any ideas!?!  I
I was thinking maybe either glass or plastic storage containers/jars….I have not made up my mind yet 🙂
I finally got to wash my hair this morning after waiting for 72hours….that is the WORST part of the Keratin process (but it is SO worth it)…I did not even have to use the straightening iron!!!!  WOOOHHOOO! and did I tell you that I really am loving the new do!
Have a great Monday and go link up with Carissa!!!!

This weekend in review…

It is the weekend before Christmas and it was a laid back one for us.  I have been under the weather a little this weekend but with a lot of rest and orange juice I am starting to feel better.
We went to the movies to see “The Fighter” on Saturday.  My husband thought it was one of the best movies of the year.  I thought it was good just not my type of movie….the acting was superb though!  Then we went to Toys R Us to just look around.  Boy does Andre love to look at toys!  He is going to go crazy when we have children 🙂  In all honesty I can not wait for the day when he can buy toys and play with our children.  Then we rode around and looked at Christmas lights in the neighborhood right next to ours.  I just LOVE Christmas lights!

Then today was super laid back….I went grocery shopping and then we watched the Color Purple.  One of my items on my 101 in 1001 list was to let Andre pick a movie each month and I would watch it….no questions asked.  This month he chose The Color Purple and I loved it.
Now its time to cook dinner, Chicken and Broccoli Penne with Pesto Cream Sauce is on the menu.  Look for the recipe later this week on my cooking blog!
I have some great things coming up on my cooking blog so make sure you check it out….
Roman Chicken, Chicken Milanese, Turkey Salad, Chocolate Rice Pudding…

I hope that everyone had a GREAT weekend.
Only 3.5 more days to work before Christmas!!!!!
