we were representing the TIGERS!!!

all of the cuz-os!!!  minus my brother
9. I made apple pancakes for my mom and me on Thanksgiving morning.  It was delicious…it was more like a custard than a pancake, but that was fine with me.  I just love custard!

1/4 cup butter
2 lg. apples cored and sliced into 1/4 inch wide wedges
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup flour
4 large eggs (or 5 large egg whites)
3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 t. vanilla
1/4 t. salt

powdered sugar
 ovenproof dish

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Melt butter in skillet, and add apple wedges to skillet and cook lightly turning once until apples begin to soften (3-5 minutes). While apples are cooking, add remaining butter (melted), milk, flour, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla, and salt and mix. Pour butter batter mix over apples and transfer skillet to oven. Bake until pancake is puffed and golden, about 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven and dust with powdered sugar. Serve immediately

10. I also made chocolate chip pancakes…
These things might be the best thing I have ever put into my mouth…I mean really!!!  You need to make these as soon as possible…you will thank me!

enough for 2-3 people

1 eggs
1 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoons baking powder
0.5 teaspoon baking soda
0.5 teaspoon salt
1 cups buttermilk
2 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled
Β½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
cooking spray (for cooking)
Step 1: In a large bowl beat eggs. Add buttermilk, butter and vanilla and mix well. Add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well until mostly smooth. Fold in chocolate chips and let batter set for a few minutes.
Step 2: Heat griddle or pan over medium heat. Add a teaspoon of oil to the pan or spray with cooking spray.
Step 3: Pour 2 Tablespoons of batter onto the griddle. Cook on the first side until bubbles that form start to pop. You can also gently lift up the pancake to make sure the bottom is not overcooking, if it is the pan may be too hot and you will need to adjust the heat. Flip the pancake over with a spatula and cook until golden brown. Repeat until all the batter is gone. Let cooked pancakes rest on a heat proof plate in a 200 degree F oven until ready to serve.

I want to make these again today!!!!

10 little Scott things…V.6 part 1

I have lots to say and lots of pictures, so I am going to break my normal 10 little Scott things into 2 posts…to make it a little more manageable…
and to keep you all from falling asleep on me πŸ™‚

1. It is the final day of “I’m Thankful” blog challenge and swap.  I got partnered up with one of the greatest girls in the blogging world…Michaela at My world in a Paper Cup.

She is gorgeous and funny…
Lives in the Windy City, but once lived in NYC (and even got married there…and her pictures are to die for)
She lives in a super cute vintage apartment with her husband and handsome bully, Freddie.
She send me some goodies last week!!!

I just love twine on holiday gifts!!

 all of my goodies…
lantern that is now on my mantle
bird and heart ornaments (that I cant wait to use this year on my tree)
red candles (that are also on my mantle)
small prints (I’m thinking of putting these in our hallway or guest bathroom)
and some super cute straws that I cant wait to use

Go now, and check her out!
2. It’s my 25th birthday today!  I am a quarter of century…I can legally rent a car if I wanted.
I have a great feeling about being 25…I think it is going to be the best year yet!!!

I think 25 will suit me πŸ™‚

3. Thanksgiving was pretty much amazing.  My mom came down on Wednesday and we started cooking.  Having her here made preparing everything a lot less stressful.  We finished all the cooking on Thursday morning and we sat down to eat right at 1.  The food was amazing, but being around my family was even better.

all of our grub…

carbonara mac and cheese and italian sausage stuffing

collard greens, rice, and green bean casserole

potato salad

sweet potato souffle

copper pennies…aka marinated carrots

the best turkey ever!!

dessert: pretzel salad, chocolate pie, and pecan pie

4. After eating all of that food this is what happened…resting and watching football

I am surprised that Tucker wasn’t on the couch too!!!
I guess it is safe to say that the couch and chair are broken in now πŸ™‚
5. So….It was rival weekend in our house this weekend.  Andre is a South Carolina alumni and I am a Clemson alumni, so there was plenty of crap talking on Saturday night πŸ™‚  I was the one sulking at the end of the night though…those chickens did it again.

I’m still a proud Tiger…

part 2 is coming up tomorrow!!!

le petit bebe Scott…week 21

Happy Black Friday.  This pregnant girl slept in and ate a late breakfast with my sweet husband.
Sleep is much more important than shopping these days!!!
I can not believe that I am over the hump…
I can now say that I only have 19 weeks left.

How far along? 21 weeks and 1 day…132 days left…I have officially made it over the hump
Size of the “le petit bebe”? Our “le petit bebe” is around 13 oz (getting closer and closer to a pound)…and about 11 inches from head to toe…the size of a banana
Maternity Clothes?  still wearing maternity pants and regular tops (must be long though…this girl has one long torso)…I just LOVE wearing legging and dresses on the weekends.  I have lived in them the last few days!!!
Weight Gain? Im still up about 12-13 lbs…all that food yesterday probably added to that though πŸ™‚
Stretch Marks? none so far…I hope I am one of the luck ones…still using my belly balm everyday
Gender? my mom knows!!!! and I still think boy
Movement? I just love feeling the bebe squirm around…I can feel it more and more each day
Sleep? pretty good…I still toss around quite a bit…and waking up 2-3 times a night to pee is a little rough, but I know it is only going to get worse πŸ™‚
Food Cravings? Thanksgiving food was amazing yesterday…especially the turkey
What I Miss? nothing really…
Symptoms? still just belly stretches
Best Moment of the Week?  getting to spend Thanksgiving with my family…just think this time next year we will have a sweet 9 month old πŸ™‚

mostly baby questions and answers…part 2

This is part 2 of the “ask me anything” post…part 1 can be found here.

 Do you like being pregnant?
I LOVE it!  It is more incredible than I could ever imagine.  Growing a little part of me and Andre right in my stomach…truly a gift from God.  I was lucky and did not have any sickness early on and it has been a pretty smooth ride so far.  I can not believe that I am already more than half way (almost 21 weeks).  April will be here before we know it…

What would you love to have? HONESTLY!
I really think that bebe Scott is a little boy.  Not sure why, I guess mother’s intuition.  With that being said I always thought I would have a little girl growing up.  I honestly don’t care if it is a boy or girl…I just want it to be healthy and happy.  I can think of great things about both boys and girls, and how great it would be to have a son or daughter!

And, how do you think a baby will change your marriage, in what ways?
This is a tough one.  I know that there will not be as many lazy Saturdays and no sleeping in πŸ™‚
I think it will make us a better team…
I think that we will be great parents.  I cant wait.

Did you do any preparing before expecting? Change your diet or take pre natals before TTC?
I have always had a pretty good/clean diet.  So my diet has not changed.
I took daily vitamins before I got pregnant.
This pregnancy was a slight surprise (a wonderful amazing surprise) so we didn’t do much preparing.

How long were you “trying”?
This one goes with the last one…
We were not really “trying”…I went off of BC in May and really thought that we would not get pregnant until late 2011 or early 2012.  I guess it shows you what I know πŸ™‚

I have been wanting to ask how you are going to stand your mom knowing your baby’s gender for the rest of the pregnancy?
We really do not want to know…I think that is what is saving us.
I really don’t think that she will slip.  She is not telling anyone!  Not even my dad.
I do know that she went shopping this past weekend…I know she got some cute things πŸ™‚

Do you have names picked out? Agree on many?
We have a girl’s name and a boy’s name.  We have had them picked out for a while (before I even got pregnant)
I think that I may share the first names on the blog (soon)
The all 4 of the names are family names so that makes them even more special

Thanksgiving Traditions

This will be our 2nd year with our new traditions.  When we got married I knew that I wanted to host a holiday at our house.  I knew that Christmas was out because it would not be Christmas if we didn;t wake up at my parents house…so Thanksgiving fit perfectly.

We have my parents and brother over for Thanksgiving lunch.  We have always had the BIG meal at lunch (always have and I hope we always will)  I like it better that way.

My mom usually comes before my brother and dad, so we can start cooking.  We cook all morning and have everything on the table by noon.  Then we sit and EAT!!!  My favorite part.

We usually laze around after lunch and take naps.  It is a wonderful holiday…one of my favorites.

A funny tradition we had as children was that my brother and I would dress up like either Indians or Pilgrims and eat Thanksgiving lunch.  I thought it was amazing…I loved any excuse to dress up when I was little.  I think my mom even dresses up a couple of years!!!  Maybe I will make this a tradition with my little bebe.

10 little Scott things…V.5

1.   The lucky winner of the Shabby Apple giveaway is….Lauren @ A Modern Day Wife’s Journey

Lauren email me (lifeofascott@gmail.com) and I will get you connected with the right people πŸ™‚

2.  I finished the 3rd season of Friday Night Lights last night.  I love that show….there are so many real life lessons to be learned from all of the characters.

3. We did all of our Thanksgiving shopping yesterday.  This will be the second year that I am hosting the dinner at our house.  I really love this tradition that we are starting!  I will share my menu a little later today!!!

–our turkey from last year–

4. We have really started kicking it into high gear as far as the nursery design is concerned.  We have picked out the fabric and the furniture.  My mom’s big project is also really coming along…I just love what she is doing.  I cant wait to show it off!  Hopefully  I can get an nursery inspiration post together!!!

5. I have not even thought about Christmas yet…
I have not thought about Christmas cards (not sure if we will be doing them this year)
I have not thought about shopping
I haven’t even made a list
but we have decided what weekend we are going to Boone to get our tree

–from our trip last year–

6. I blame all of #5 on the fact that my 25th birthday is next Monday…really it is not Christmas time in our family until Kit’s birthday is over!!!  I just love how things still revolve around me!

7. Totally random…If I had to choose a reality show to be on I would choose the Amazing Race…hands down.  I think Andre and I would make a pretty great team…as long as he drove the manual cars.  I have never learned to drive a stick shift!

8. We need to buckle down and finish our registries…we are registering at Target, Baby’s R Us, and Walmart.  The only one we haven’t done is Target…they restructured thier website and our registry was lost…good thing it didn’t have much on it.  Are there any must have items that we need on our list???

9. Only 2.5 days of work this week!!!  It is going to be fabulous!!!

10.  Sometimes coming up with ten things is really tough!

Thanksgiving Menu…

our menu…
the sides:
rice and gravy
potato salad
collards
and deviled eggs for my brother!
dessert
chocolate pie
